According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a risk factor is "any attribute, characteristic or exposure of an individual that increases the likelihood of developing a disease or injury". Dispite a typical group of patients are more prone to develop uveal melanoma (UM), the disease is not exclusive to those who share these risk factors.
