Uveal Melanoma Patients' Brochure

In this brochure you may find a schematic representation of the most important topics about uveal melanoma: who is most affected, how it is diagnosed, preferential treatment option for cancer in the eye, surveillance and metastatic disease managing.

This is the UM Cure 2020 Uveal Melanoma Patients' Brochure, the result of joint work of patients, clinicians and research experts around the globe focused on raising awareness on uveal melanoma and finding new therapies for its metastatic form.

This brochure shows a schematic representation of the most important topics on UM: who is most affected, how it is diagnosed, preferential treatment option for cancer in the eye, surveillance and metastatic disease managing.

Across these different sections of the brochure we prepared for you the most relevant information on these topics. Additionally, you may find simple descriptions of eye anatomy concepts, how patients can get involved and find support, and where to get information regarding clinical trials and reference centres.

The brochure was produced through an iterative co-design process with uveal melanoma community stakeholders within and beyond the research consortium.

• It aims to increase awareness and information most importantly with patients and their families, as well as healthcare professionals who may not be directly familiar with this rare disease, accelerating appropriate diagnosis and referral.

• It has been designed to be as visual as possible, so users understand the uvea and uveal melanoma in the context of discussion of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

Facts are outlined and easy to remember and check. Where there is still clinical practice discussion and variation among experts, we explain the most common possibilities.

The brochure has been adopted by the EURACAN group of the European Reference Networks for distribution across the continent.
