A liquid biopsy is a less invasive alternative to surgical biopsies, where a physical part of the actual tumour is colected.
They enable doctors to discover a range of information about a tumour, similar to what conventional biopsies do.
Although they are not still routinely available for uveal melanoma, there is a role for liquid biopsies, namely in the detection of disease recurrence.
